Let’s get started!»
The Grammar Breakdown
In English, nouns are much more than just «people, places, or things.» We categorize them to understand how they behave in a sentence.
| Noun Type | Definition | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| Common vs. Proper | General things vs. specific names (Capitalized). | city / London, teacher / Mr. Smith |
| Concrete vs. Abstract | Physical objects vs. ideas/emotions. | phone, dog / love, freedom |
| Count vs. Non-count | Things you can count vs. mass/liquids. | apple, car / water, advice |
| Collective | A group acting as a single unit. | team, family, audience |
⚠️ The B1 Challenge: Non-Count Nouns
At this level, you must remember that some nouns like information, equipment, and furniture are ALWAYS singular. You cannot say «informations.»
